1. CONSULTATION

Our first role is to listen and ask questions. During the initial meeting, we discuss a vision for the project. Following the consultation, we will provide a proposal for professional services.

2. SITE ANALYSIS AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT PHASE

During the initial phase, we collect background information, perform any necessary research, discuss programmatic requirements, outline project constraints, and highlight opportunities.

3. SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE

The Schematic Design Phase will vary by client type and project size but will often include a Plant Palette, Precedent ImagesConceptual Plans, and a Composite Plan.

Plant Palette – A collection of photographs showing proposed plant selections or plant massing character

Precedent Images – A reference of images used to help convey material selections, scale, texture, color, or other individual landscape features

Conceptual Plans – To-scale conceptual planting and hardscape drawings of the work area showing the location and rough dimensions of recommended site improvements, proposed plant massing, and layout

Composite Plan – Upon client review of the Conceptual Plans, Plant Palette, and Precedent Images, a Composite Plan will be produced to reflect conceptual design and material selections, as well as any necessary revisions

The Composite Plan is used to provide a preliminary cost opinion. If anticipated execution costs exceed the project budget, we will work together with the project team and client to prioritize design features and/or phase the project.

4. CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS PHASE

We develop the Composite Plan into a series of plans, elevations, sections, and details that clearly define the materials, layout, and specifications of the job. This set of drawings is used to obtain final pricing and guide construction. On larger projects a Design Development Phase may precede the Construction Documents.

5. CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION PHASE

We then coordinate pricing for the project and recommend a contractor to build the work. Once construction has begun, we act as the clients representative in the field. We make construction observation site visits and stay in continuous contact with the contractor and client to make sure that the project is being built on time and according to the approved drawings.
